On the Other Side!

Every six weeks we have the privilege of welcoming new missionaries into the PPM!  Last week we had the exciting and emotional experience of being on the other side as our youngest son, Andrew received his mission call to the Lyon France mission!  He surprised us by submitting his papers early so that we could be part of that exciting moment!
He will report on January 6, 2016.

August 2015 MLC

"I testify of the power in the Book Of Mormon that will change your life and strengthen your resolve to follow Christ.  The Holy Ghost will change your heart...He will show you what you need to do next."

Gettysburg

"In great deeds something abides. On great fields something stays.  Forms change and pass; bodies disappear, but spirits linger, to consecrate ground for the vision – place of souls.  And reverent men and women from afar, and generations that know us not and that we know not of, heart-drawn to see where and by whom great things were suffered and done for them, shall come to this deathless field to ponder and dream and lo! the shadow of a mighty presence shall wrap them in its bosom, and the power of the vision pass into their souls."
                                   -JOSHUA LAWRENCE CHAMBERLIN
                                     Gettysburg, October 3, 1889

President Johnson and I loved driving through the battlefields as we entered Gettysburg for district meetings.  There is truly a scared feeling there.
Col. Joshua Chamberlain was a professor of modern languages at Bowdoin College in Maine. He took a sabbatical to study in Europe but instead joined the Union Army.  Under his direction his regiment changed the course of history at the battle of Gettysburg!

We took an early morning walk . . .

Here at the Wills house President Lincoln composed the Gettysburgh Address -a tribute to those who gave their lives willingly, that (WE) this nation, under God, should have a new birth of freedom!

Interviews and District Meetings - August 2015

"Verily, verily, I say unto you, as I said unto my disciples, where two or three are gathered together in my name, as touching one thing, behold there will I be in the midst of them-even so am I in the midst of you.  Fear not to do good, for whatsoever you sow, that shall ye reap; therefore, if ye sow good ye shall reap good for your reward.  Therefore, fear not, little flock; do you good; let earth and hell combine against you, for if ye are built upon my rock, they cannot prevail."    D&C 6:32-34

Interviews and District Meetings July 2015

Once each quarter President Johnson sits down with each missionary for an interview and a chance to get to know them better.  Sister Johnson participates in district meetings throughout the mission.

"As your understanding of the Atonement of Jesus Christ grows, your desire to share the gospel will increase.  You will feel as Lehi did, ...the importance to make these things known unto the inhabitants of the earth."                                                                2 Nephi 2:8
