APRIL FOOL'S
Elder Gardner who is the financial secretary for the PPM, placed a stack of documents to be signed by President Johnson on his desk that looked as though it could take all day to get through . . .
President Johnson started right in with a bit of wonder on his face how there could possibly be such a stack. A few minutes later Elder Gardner walked in and with a big grin stated, "April Fools!" President was too relieved to be mad : D

MLC April 2016
Elder Miller and Elder Ord conducted an outstanding training on Working With Members of the Church in the Work of Salvation
Committment extended by Elders Ord and Miller as they concluded their training:
As a companionship, review what you have done over the past month to help the members be engaged in missionary work. Discuss and plan what you can do, starting now, to help the members build their faith in doing the Lord's work.
Consider the following ideas:
*Seek the guidance of the bishop and other ward leaders.
*Teach Church leaders and members the message of the Restoration and other lessons.
*Teach them to love and serve their neighbors and friends.
*Encourage them to fast and pray for missionary opportunities.
*Encourage them to visit acquaintances who have recently experienced a life-changing event (birth, death in the family, marriage, or recently moved).
*Invite them to help you teach. The ideal situation is to have a Church member with you who formerly belonged to the same church as the person you are teaching.
*Help them set dates when they will invite their friends to learn about the message of the Restoration.
*Show them items they can give others, such as copies of the Book of Mormon, videos, and pass-along cards.
*Encourage them to invite their friends to attend church or family home evening, to view a Church-produced video, or to participate in a gospel conversation.
*Help them practice what they could say to their friends.
*Teach them why it is valuable to share the gospel regardless of the result. (Being a successful missionary/member missionary means inviting and helping others build faith in Jesus Christ.)
Even when people do not accept the opportunity to learn the gospel, your service and words are evidence of God’s love for them and may plant seeds that future missionaries and members of the Church will harvest. -Preach My Gospel
There are many other ways to help members get more involved. Seek to add to this list throughout your life! Share your ideas with others.
We invite members everywhere to let the missionaries help you learn how to better "invite and help others come unto Christ"!

"Let there be cultivated an awesome awareness in every member's heart of his own potential for bringing others to a knowledge of the truth. Let him work at it. Let him pray with great earnestness about it."
- President Gordon B. Hinckley

Farewell March 2016
President Ezra Taft Benson taught: “We are commanded by God to take this gospel to all the world. That is the cause that must unite us today. Only the gospel will save the world from the calamity of its own self-destruction. Only the gospel will unite men of all races and nationalities in peace. Only the gospel will bring joy, happiness, and salvation to the human family” (The Teachings of Ezra Taft Benson [1988], 167).
Eleven missionaries joined us at the mission home celebrating dedicated service as representatives of the Lord Jesus Christ. They have been united in the Lord's work, bringing joy, happiness and the message of salvation to people here in the PPM. They will now return home armed with the many gifts of that service; faith and trust in the Lord Jesus Christ, a greater ability to love, a knowledge of the doctrine of Christ, and many other skills and blessings.
We had a good hike on the trails nearby before enjoying an evening of reflection. We asked each person to share, "my mission was successful because..."

"More holiness give me, more strivings within, more patience in suffering, more sorrow for sin, more faith in my Savior, more sense of his care, more joy in his service, more purpose in prayer." Hymn 131

Monday afternoon we were expecting 10 new missionaries to arrive when we got word that they had been delayed and were in Atlanta. Elder Story was flying in from the MTC in Mexico since he is Spanish speaking and he arrived on time. There was a tender mercy as the missionaries in Atlanta were standing there wondering what they should do and a stake president from who knows where walked up to them and started talking to them. They told him that they had missed their flight to Pittsburgh due to mechanical problems on the plane but the airline had offered them one room in the hotel. That doesn't work too well for three sisters and six elders! He said hey no problem I have a connection with Hilton hotel and I can get you some rooms. He made arrangements for three rooms at a local Hilton Hotel for them! Thank you to an anonymous angel! The group arrived on Tuesday morning at 9 am. We picked them up at the airport and took them over to the Greentree chapel for training and lunch and then sent them on their way with their trainers.

You are called to represent Jesus Christ in helping people become clean from their sins. You do this by inviting them to come unto Jesus Christ and become converted to His restored gospel. To come to the Savior they must have faith in Him unto repentance--making the necessary changes to bring their life into agreement with His teachings. You can help people develop such faith by teaching them the restored gospel by the Spirit and inviting them to commit to live according to its teachings. Keeping this commitment prepares them for the covenant of baptism and confirmation and the precious gift of the Holy Ghost. They are to put off the “natural man” and become a Saint “through the atonement of Christ the Lord” (Mosiah 3:19. -Preach My Gospel
