Joyfully Entering In At The Gate

Doctrine and Covenants 31:6

6 And this is my gospel—repentance and baptism by water, and then cometh the baptism of fire and the Holy Ghost, even the Comforter, which showeth all things, and teacheth the peaceable things of the kingdom.

"The baptism was an unforgettable experience. It was the husband of a couple that Elder Hansen and I found during the big snow storm back at the beginning of 2016. We had been shoveling people out and walking around the whole day and we were almost done for the night when we caught him outside his home and asked if we could help him shovel. He said no, but he let us come back and teach him. It turned out that his wife works with President Gogna and she had a lot of interest in the church. I taught them for about four months and then turned the reigns over to Elder Mejia and Elder Wood. They were married in September and Marisol (the wife) was baptized, but Jose (the husband) decided to wait. Until now!"

February 2017 Zone Conference in Brookville

"Virtue originates in your innermost thoughts and desires. It is a pattern of thought and behavior based on high moral standards. Since the Holy Ghost does not dwell in unclean tabernacles, virtue is prerequisite to receiving the Spirit’s guidance. What you choose to think and do when you are alone and you believe no one is watching is a strong measure of your virtue."  -PMG p. 118

"Your mind is like a stage in a theater; in the theater of your mind, however, only one actor can be on stage at a time. If the stage is left bare, thoughts of darkness and sin often enter the stage to tempt. But these thoughts have no power if the stage of your mind is occupied by wholesome thoughts, such as a memorized hymn or verse of scripture that you can call upon in a moment of temptation. By controlling the stage of your mind, you can successfully resist persistent urges to yield to temptation and indulge in sin. You can become pure and virtuous."  -PMG p. 119
